Aging windows on the south and west walls of the 1960 library needed to be replaced. The Webster Memorial Library Trust reached out to Special-Lite, a Decatur employer known for supporting its community and providing custom, durable architectural solutions.

The library’s original windows had become increasingly inefficient. They made it difficult to regulate temperatures during Michigan’s hot summers and cold winters. Staff in several areas of the building, including the local history room, often experienced uncomfortable working conditions.

Utilizing aluminum framing built just over a mile away, the new windows significantly improved insulation and temperature control. The library also benefited from a refreshed, contemporary appearance. is extremely durable and offers superb thermal performance, helping the library save money year after year. An installation crew from local glass installer began work in early November. The renovation took about three weeks as they worked through challenging weather conditions.

This was an important step in the library’s ongoing modernization after its last major interior project in 2021.
